Seller guide
Every marketplace asks for a slightly different set of papers, and one missing document can stall an onboarding for weeks. This is the full checklist we work through with every brand we take online — mandatory documents, category licences and platform-by-platform requirements.
This is the base set. Have these ready before you apply anywhere — missing one of them is the single biggest cause of delayed onboarding.
GST registration certificate
Required for nearly all categories. A few categories (such as books) allow a GST-exempt declaration instead.
PAN card
Business PAN for a company or LLP; personal PAN for a proprietorship.
Current bank account
In the registered business name, with a cancelled cheque or bank statement showing IFSC and account number.
Business proof
Certificate of incorporation, partnership deed, Udyam / MSME registration or shop-and-establishment licence.
Address proof of pick-up location
Electricity bill, rent agreement or utility bill matching the dispatch address you register.
Identity and signature proof
Aadhaar or passport of the authorised signatory, plus a signature specimen.
Trademark certificate or TM application
Needed for Amazon Brand Registry, Flipkart brand protection and most fashion or beauty platform approvals.
GTIN / EAN barcodes
Purchased from GS1 India, or a GTIN exemption approval from the platform for unbranded goods.
Depending on what you sell, one or more of these is legally required before a listing can go live. Selling without them risks delisting and penalties.
FSSAI licence
Food, beverages, nutraceuticals and health supplements. Central licence for multi-state ecommerce sales.
Ayush licence
Ayurvedic, Unani, Siddha and homeopathy products.
Drug licence / CDSCO
Scheduled drugs, medical devices and certain healthcare products.
BIS certification
Electronics, toys, helmets, stainless steel and other notified goods under mandatory BIS.
Cosmetic manufacturing or import licence
Beauty and personal-care products, including imported cosmetics registered under CDSCO.
Legal Metrology / packaged commodity compliance
Every pre-packaged product needs MRP, net quantity, manufacturer details, country of origin, manufacture date and customer-care contact printed on the label.
Import Export Code (IEC)
Required to import goods for resale, and to export via eBay, Etsy or Amazon Global Selling.
Brand authorisation letter
If you are a reseller rather than the brand owner, you need written authorisation up the supply chain.

Documents are only half the job. Offline brands also need online-ready pricing, courier-safe packaging, Legal Metrology compliant labels, barcodes and marketplace-grade photography before the first listing goes live. We handle that whole sequence.
See our offline-to-online launch serviceOnly in a small set of GST-exempt categories, such as books, where platforms accept a declaration. For nearly every other category GST registration is mandatory.
You can start selling without one, but you cannot enrol in Amazon Brand Registry, protect your listings from hijackers, or get approved on Myntra, Ajio and Nykaa without a registered or applied-for trademark.
Marketplaces need a GTIN/EAN to create a listing. You can buy barcodes from GS1 India, or apply for a GTIN exemption for unbranded or handmade products.
Pre-packaged goods must display MRP inclusive of all taxes, net quantity, name and address of the manufacturer or packer, country of origin, month and year of manufacture, and a customer-care contact.
For a business that already has GST and a current account, 1–2 weeks. Starting from scratch — including trademark filing and label redesign — plan for 4–8 weeks.
